Platform Scales
RADWAG platform scales are complete industrial scales consisting of a single load cell weighing platform and a weighing terminal, designed for weighing loads from 0.6 kg to 300 kg with a readability from 0.2 g to 100 g. They are used in warehouses, at packing and shipping stations, on production lines and in the food and chemical industries. The range includes eight series – from simple scales with an LCD display to scales with touch terminals, databases and communication with automation systems – with weighing pans from 150×200 mm to 800×800 mm, made of painted steel, stainless steel or acid-resistant stainless steel. All scales are designed and manufactured by RADWAG in Poland.
What is a platform scale?
A platform scale consists of a platform with a single load cell located centrally under the weighing pan and a weighing terminal connected to the platform by a cable or mounted on a stand. The single load cell design provides good accuracy and repeatability for loads up to 300 kg, as well as low weight and low height – the scale is easy to move and can be placed on the floor, a table or a trolley. For larger loads and pans, choose 4 load cell platform scales or pallet and beam scales.

Platform design and ingress protection
- Powder-coated steel with AISI304 stainless steel pan – IP 65 construction, pans of 300×300, 400×500 and 500×700 mm (C315, WPY, HX7, HY10, TMX). The best choice for dry areas: warehouses, production halls and shipping stations.
- Stainless steel – H versions – IP 66/67 construction, pans from 150×200 to 800×800 mm (H315, HX7 H, HY10 H, TMX H). The scales can be washed with water, which makes them suitable for the food industry and wherever hygiene matters.
- Acid-resistant AISI316 stainless steel – HR versions – IP 66/67/69 construction and IP 68/69 load cell (H315 HR, HX7 HR). Designed for contact with acids, brine and aggressive cleaning agents, e.g. in fish and meat processing and in the chemical industry.
- Compact scales with a 195×195 mm pan – the smallest C32 and CY10 models, with a capacity from 0.6 kg and a readability from 0.2 g, fit on a table or counter and are suitable for weighing small parts and small parcels.
An IP 43 terminal is sufficient in dry areas. IP 66/67 means dust-tightness and protection against powerful water jets and temporary immersion, while IP 69 means protection against high-pressure, high-temperature washdown.
Which terminal to choose?
- Basic weighing – C315 and H315 with a clear 4.3″ LCD display and intuitive operation. The C315 has a battery as standard, while the H315 is waterproof and works in wet environments.
- Multifunctional scales – C32 with ALIBI memory and a personalised menu, CY10 with a large 10″ touch screen and WPY with databases of up to 16 GB. They offer parts counting, checkweighing, statistics and communication via Ethernet and Wi-Fi®, among others.
- Advanced industrial terminals – HX7, HY10 and TMX for harsh conditions and integration with automation systems. They support industrial protocols (Modbus TCP/IP, PROFIBUS DP, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP), and HY10 and TMX allow three additional platforms to be connected. The TMX combines a scale with an industrial Windows computer and supports complex production and warehouse processes.
Applications of platform scales
- warehouses, logistics and shipping – weighing parcels, boxes and goods at goods-in and goods-out,
- production – product weight control, counting parts and fasteners, weighing raw materials,
- food industry – portioning, weighing ingredients and finished products in conditions requiring washdown,
- meat and fish processing – acid-resistant stainless steel scales resistant to brine and intensive cleaning,
- chemical industry – weighing substances in aggressive environments,
- trade and invoicing – selling goods by weight with a verified scale.
How to choose a platform scale?
- Maximum capacity and readability – choose a Max with a margin above your heaviest load. The lower the maximum capacity, the finer the readability – e.g. 0.2 g at 0.6 kg and 100 g at 300 kg. Dual-range models offer a finer readability in the lower weighing range.
- Pan size – the load should fit on the pan. 195×195 mm is enough for small parts, 400×500 or 500×700 mm for boxes and crates, and 800×800 mm for large containers.
- Working environment – painted steel is sufficient in dry areas; for washdown choose the stainless steel H version, and for contact with acids and brine the AISI316 HR version.
- Functions and integration – C315 or H315 is enough for basic weighing. If you need databases, a touch screen or a connection to an ERP system or PLC, choose C32, CY10, WPY, HX7, HY10 or TMX.
- Legal metrology – if the scale will be used for trade, order the verified version.
- Power supply and mobility – for use in different locations, choose a scale with a battery (standard in C315, optional in H315 and C32).
- Hazardous areas – for use in Ex zones, choose ATEX-certified scales.
FAQ – platform scales
What is the difference between a single load cell and a 4 load cell platform scale?
In a single load cell scale, the pan rests on one centrally located load cell. This design is light, low and provides high accuracy for loads up to 300 kg. In a 4 load cell scale, the platform rests on four load cells in the corners, which makes it possible to weigh larger and heavier loads on large pans.
Which IP rating should I choose?
In dry areas, an IP 43 terminal and an IP 65 construction are sufficient. If the scale will be washed with water, choose the stainless steel version with an IP 66/67 terminal and construction. For high-pressure, high-temperature washdown and contact with aggressive substances, choose the HR versions made of AISI316 stainless steel with IP 66/67/69 protection.
Can RADWAG platform scales be verified?
Yes. RADWAG platform scales are accuracy class III scales and are available in a verified version in accordance with Directive 2014/31/EU (NAWI). Verification is required, among others, when the weighing result is used to determine a price or charge.
Can a platform scale operate without mains power?
Yes. C315 series scales have a built-in battery as standard, allowing up to 8 hours of operation. An internal battery is available as an option for H315 and C32 scales.
How do I connect a platform scale to an IT system or production line?
All scales have an RS232 interface, and most also have USB and Ethernet. C32, CY10 and WPY scales communicate via Wi-Fi®. HX7, HY10 and TMX terminals support industrial protocols such as Modbus TCP/IP, PROFIBUS DP and PROFINET, as well as digital inputs and outputs for controlling external devices.
Can several platforms be connected to one terminal?
Yes. Up to three additional weighing platforms can be connected to HY10 and TMX terminals. This allows you to operate, for example, a scale for small parts and a scale for heavy loads from a single workstation.
