On 1 October, the new edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia came into force. In order to help local customers from the pharmaceutical industry meet its requirements, our Chinese office, RADWAG Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd, organised a seminar for them. The event took place on 11 October in Anguo, Hebei Province. It was attended by over 100 local medical companies.

Why exactly Anguo? The city is called the “Medicine Capital”. It is home to a temple dedicated to the God of Medicine, built around 100 AD and protected by the provincial authorities.

The seminar focused on two main areas:

1. An in-depth interpretation of the chapter on “precision weighing” (Chapter 9032 of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia, 2025)

During this session, key industry definitions such as “standard minimum weight (USP)” and “safety factor” were discussed. In addition, the most important issues related to environmental control and verification of instrument performance during weighing were presented. This is an extremely essential topic, especially for pharmaceutical and medical companies, as it will help them to avoid deviations in inspection results caused by weighing errors.

2. Analysis of the differences between verification and calibration

Director Chang Jiankui from the Institute of Mechanics at the Hebei Provincial Metrology Institute was asked to give a presentation on this topic. Understanding the difference between verification and calibration procedures will help companies implement a compliant and efficient metrology management system.

The seminar topics were met with enthusiasm by the audience – local customers were extremely grateful to us for sharing our knowledge and experience, which improves their qualifications. They were particularly interested in the XA 6.5Y.M Microbalance as an extremely accurate device with a high maximum capacity, outstanding metrological parameters and full compliance with the requirements of this year’s edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia.
