Measurement of mass in areas endangered with explosion requires use of a professional device ensuring weighing accuracy and precision but most of all operation safety. RADWAG manufactures reliable instruments to-be-operated in hazardous areas where there is a risk of explosion of gases,, and in hazardous areas endangered with explosion of gases and dusts. Each of these two groups comprises widely applied 1-load-cell scales, and 4-load-cell scales with large-size platforms.

RADWAG EX scales are controlled via a modern weighing terminal, the PUE HX5.EX, certified with ATEX approval. The device is intended to be a component of industrial load-cell scales that can be operated in production areas endangered with explosion, classified as zones 1, 21, 2, 22.

The PUE HX5.EX terminal must be powered using a certified intrinsically safe PM01 power supply manufactured by RADWAG. Depending on the needs, the PM01.EX can be connected to the voltage source placed either in hazardous or safe area. RADWAG product range includes a communication module, the IM01.EX, with use of which it is possible to expand the quantity of terminal’s communication interfaces. The module is installed outside the hazardous area, and connected to the indicator using an intrinsically safe interface.

The classification of hazardous areas is included in Annex I of the Directive 1999/92/EC ATEX137 of 16 December 1999, ‘On minimum requirements for improving the safety and health protection of workers potentially at risk from explosive atmospheres’.
